Easy Scan is a Chrome browser extension developed by Noé Cramette. This privacy policy describes how the extension handles your data.
Easy Scan does not collect personal data. The extension operates entirely on your local device and your local network.
The following data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage API:
| Data | Purpose | Storage type |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner IP address | Connect to your scanner | Local (device only) |
| Scan settings (DPI, color mode, format) | Remember your preferences | Local + Sync (Chrome profile) |
| Scanned images | Scan history (last 10 scans) | Local (device only) |
Scanned images are stored as encoded data in Chrome's local storage and never leave your device.
Easy Scan makes HTTP requests exclusively to your local network scanner using the eSCL/AirScan protocol (a standard used by macOS and iOS for wireless scanning).
The extension communicates with:
http://<your-scanner-ip>/eSCL/* — to discover capabilities, create scan jobs, and retrieve scan imageshttp://<your-scanner-ip>/AirScan/* — alternative endpoint used by some scanner modelsThe data sent to the scanner is limited to scan parameters (resolution, color mode, document dimensions). No personal data is included.
No requests are made to any external server, cloud service, or third-party API.
The extension can write a scanned image to your clipboard when you click "Copy to clipboard". It never reads the contents of your clipboard.
Default scan settings (resolution, color mode, output format) may be stored in Chrome Sync storage, which means they sync across devices signed into the same Google account. This is handled entirely by Chrome and follows Google's privacy policy. No scan images are synced.
Scan history is automatically limited to the 10 most recent scans. You can delete individual scans or clear all history at any time from the extension's preview page. Deleting the extension removes all locally stored data.
Easy Scan does not integrate any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external APIs. There are no trackers of any kind.
Easy Scan is open source under the MIT license. The full source code is available on GitHub at github.com/noecmt/easy-scan. You can verify the extension's behavior by reading the code directly.
